Bank PO means
Probationary Officer (PO)
He is a Junior Manager of Grade I scale and hence called Scale I Officer. After the selection criteria are completed, a Probationary Officer has to go through an intensive training program at the Institute of Banking Management where they are trained. The probation period of a PO may last for 2 years. This again differs from bank to bank.

Exam Pattern
The first two-phase is a written test which are preliminary exams and mains exam respectively. The third step is the interview process. Candidates selected after the first two rounds get eligible for the interview round. After getting selected in these three rounds a merit list is generated based on the candidate’s performance. The ones who make it to the list are selected for the post of PO.

Probationary officers quite handsomely. The basic pay of an IBPS PO is Rs 36,000. In addition to this basic pay, the officers are also eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), CCA, special allowance etc. The total in-hand salary thus amounts to Rs 52,630 to Rs 55,200 per month.
